Just Simply Jennifer!

Don’t enter this contest, so I can have the $50.  It is way to easy.  I put her little logo in my blogroll page, which she has a beautiful site.  So, you won’t mind putting in your blogroll.  I am than doing this post about not winning $50 and vavoom…I win. 

I could really use the money now with Thanksgiving coming and all…that is a week off with about 1/2 pay.  Blah…  At least unemployment will kick in at all though.  Yeah, I get unemployment for the week.

So anyways, don’t enter this contest.

My pay check was $348.72. I make $10.50 per route, so $42 per day of driving. If there is a day off school…I don’t get paid.

I get unemployment for when there is 4 or more days off school and for summer vacation. This last year my unemployment rate was $128 per week with me not being allowed to make more than $50 or it gets subtracted…which I always make more than $50 with my other jobs. I usually ended up getting close to $75 a week after my deductions, thankfully I make some under the radar as well.

This made Jo and Angela Willis both very close, so I went ahead and sent them both off $10. That was actually pretty fun.

It is pathetic my pay though. I don’t envision myself driving within 2 years from today. It is a dead end job where the top sucks…if you call where I am the top which essentially I do.

I am going to go to school. I am hopefully going to suck up full-time school over the summer. I am working on saving, so that I can have my house payments all made before summer begins.

Oh yeah…my house payments…ha ha. My house payment is something like $834 a month. I drive school bus and my total paychecks in a month won’t pay for my house. I rely on my other jobs which thankfully pay better for less time.

I am also relying on my child support from Adam right now as well. I hope that I don’t have to though. I need to be able to stand on my own feet even though Kyra does of course deserve that pay as well. I would ultimately like to be able to just bank it for her college though.

Stan also helps here by paying for all our food. Yeah, his rent is paid for with groceries.

The crazy thing is I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. I am going to finish my Information Technology degree though because I am pretty close, I think. I have no idea though where this will all lead.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by.  I am closing guesses now as I do have my paycheck in hand.  You will see it within a few hours…  Ponder these guesses though for a few minutes.  Holly and Laura if you ever need a bus ride anywhere, let me know.  I will work for you any week.

I was talking about how low money I make for driving yesterday in my post about the reward being given in Florida for a company not paying overtime. I have decided that I am going to tell the world how much I make, but first I want some good guesses.

Here is my statistics.

• I have been driving school bus, this is my 5th year.
• I drove tractor trailer before school bus for 2 years.
• I am paid per route.
• I do 4 routes per day.
• I am amazed, but I just did the math and all of my routes take exactly 37 minutes to complete from first stop til I am at the school or empty.
• I drive about an hour empty per day. This includes from home to my first stop and from the school home after kids are off, etc.
• Total…I am driving 208 minutes a day, so 104 in morning and 104 in afternoon.
• I drive a little over 100 miles per day.
• There is 20 minutes in the morning where I am in limbo between routes. I am not driving, but I am in my bus. I have to wait for time to pass to start my next route. I don’t have this time in the afternoon.
• I have NO benefits except my daughter rides with me, so I don’t have any daycare expenses.

I get paid on Tuesday, this is my pay for 10 days of driving, so I’ll scan my pay stub for you to see.

Here is Jill’s entry into my M&M giveaway.  Jill is a member of my July pregnancy group that I have belonged to since I was pregnant…so we both have beautiful 2 year olds.

Anyways…here is what she says about going to school.

I lived two blocks from the elementary school, so I walked to school. On Wednesdays in the winter, though, I got to ride the bus after school. I was in our church’s kids’ choir that started at 5:00. My dad was the high school wrestling coach, and our church was right across the street from the high school. So, I hopped on the bus and rode ALL THE WAY to the high school. It seemed like such a huge and monumental trip when I was a kid, but when I think about it, it was only six blocks! Then I got to hang out with my dad at wrestling practice until 5:00. Super exciting. Sorry, can’t tell you anything about the bus driver, but I guess that means s/he wasn’t mean, huh?

I don’t think I would remember the driver if I drove that short of a trip either.  I rode the bus over an hour to school though, so was quite different.  Thanks for entering Jill.. good luck.
