I don’t know if this is a couple of high school kids or if they are trying to ride the transit bus. I really don’t know how the bus system works in London either.
I guess I don’t really like the idea of a women being lead around on a leash either, but it appears that she goes willingly and is unhurt. That would make this her business and none of mine nor any other bus drivers.
I personally may be a little crazy too. I think that the goth style is beautiful and almost elegant in a way. These people put a ton of thought into there appearance, it isn’t like me. I toss a t-shirt on when I wake up. I am pretty sure nothing would be said to me when I got on the bus though and that is very sad.
I hope that they win there discrimination case, but more over I hope that the bus driver learns about not being this way. It isn’t right.

Yes, I think these kids that got hit from someone running a red light are lucky to be alive. Running of red lights from behind is happening more and more even with steep fines as punishment for drivers. I hope that this driver gets charged with attempted homicide honestly because that is how I see it. As of now, charges have not been filed though.

I saw this article today that says that they are opposed to school busses being used for school sports transportation, preferring students travel with parents whom are simply the trusted ones.
So you can probably already see my opinion right?? The trusted ones are the same ones that turn out to be the predators. I like the idea that everyone that drives children at least have a background check of some type.
Here is the PDF.
This is also not an issue in my school district, busses take kids. It is that simple! Substitute drivers cover the take home routes for the drivers that have to leave early for sports events.
How is school sports transportation handled at your school??

I should be sending this message directly to my boss. He is all the time bumming rides to the front of the bus circle usually not from me though, I am at back.
Payday for example, they pass out paychecks until all the busses pull up. They ride up to the front and start again until all the busses are gone and all the paychecks are gone.
This driver was innocently doing this as well I imagine. She fell and never got back up. I think just going through the doors would probably not feel that great. I won’t be taking any more step rides.

Wow! I am a driver who hauls a lot of kids that live in trailer parks and well, they are some of my favorites. I haul a lot of town residing kids on that same route. It is interesting that this school has a policy that discriminates the kids that live in trailer parks, by not letting them have seating equal to the other students.
Here is the editor note story. The whole policy and everything isn’t the offending part to me. The driver didn’t know the kids name enough to call him something better than “Hey you, trailer park kid”… This from someone who admits to not knowing all my kids names that I pick up there. There would be something better though for each and every one of my students. I would be offended if I were that student too.

This is great of the Los Angeles transit authority, they run all the busses for free after 6 pm on New Year’s Eve until the early hours of New Year’s day. They are also raising the number of busses. I think I encourage everyone out there to use this service to show appreciation for the great job done by those drivers and the fact that they are working through the New Year.

I have no idea how this happened and can’t find any more details than this! Apparently the bus door slammed on him though while getting out of the bus and crushed him. There was nobody else around though??
I am assuming that this was an automatic door like in our newer busses because the door on my bus doesn’t close without a good firm push from me and even than it is pretty woosey.
This is very tragic though, that could potentially happen to a student too, which is scary to me as well.

This is a crazy story, but honestly. I am surprised that it doesn’t happen more often than it seems to. I sort of expect some sort of complaint to go in on me when I write up a student. It is just the nature of the job.
Here is how it goes though ultimately I think.
- The kid misbehaves.
- The driver does all that mess of paperwork to write them up so that corrective measures will be taken.
- The kid misses recess or is off the bus for a couple days.
- Either immediately or within a day or so the parent calls anyone and everyone that will listen and tells them what a jerk the driver is, this generally includes the school.
- The parents concerns are basically dismissed because they are expected.
- Life goes on.
Now, if you really have a valid complaint about a driver. I am not saying don’t complain, but if you want to really be listened too. Consider doing the complaint before your child is in trouble and before your complaint is just part of the process.
If your kid is just in trouble on the other hand, consider that the driver is just doing his/her job. It really is a hard job a lot of times and we don’t always see the initial issue that causes an issue. It is sometimes 1/2 guessing.
Here is what not to do though, do not get on the bus and punch the driver. This is just simply a bad example for everyone involved.
There is a law in PA that says that parents aren’t allowed to step a single foot onto a bus. It isn’t one of those low fines either, I believe it is something like $500. So if this were PA, this lady would be charged with this offense as well. My district has used this law in the past as well. There are some really crazy stories you can get out of some of the other drivers. I guess I have had mild kids. LOL…

Here we go again with the heat thing. I am totally for Air Conditioner’s in busses in the south. What are these people thinking??
This is a major issue in the southern part of the states and frankly I have no idea why parents aren’t in an uproar. Would you drive your car around in 100 degree weather without air conditioning?? I highly doubt it and know that I wouldn’t.

For me, driving school bus originated because I could take any day that I wanted off. I didn’t really need the money, so taking a day off and doing whatever was one of the biggest perks. I didn’t have Kyra back then, this was 5 years ago. I was married and well fine with life.
Anyways, we have drivers that take off days all the time. It is seriously one of the benefits of being a driver. The pay is crap. There are no “real” benefits, no paid vacations, no paid anything, no health insurance, NO BENEFITS. Here are the fake benefits to me, I can take any day that I want off without question and I can take my daughter on the bus now that I have her.
So, with that said. I think this area needs more bus drivers and they shouldn’t go blaming the drivers. That is the only benefit we have. Now, these drivers may have different situations or whatever, but from my point of view and with my work environment. That is how it stands.
Here is the PDF. What do you think?? Is this one of your benefits or is that a special benefit for my area??
