I admit, I have thought about doing this several times. I don’t have the nerves though and beyond that I really do love this job and mostly the kids. I sort of find this one comical though and am glad the guy didn’t get any charges. I really don’t think he just totally left, I bet he was watching the whole time and the fact that someone was there within a few minutes makes me really think he was, I mean how far could he have walked. I would have been like hiding behind a tree watching.

This is a story from Spain, but it is just terrible. The girl was on her way to school when a cinder block from a local demolition zone hit her in the head almost instantly killing her.
I am really behind on my driver news. I will catch up in the next few days though, I have been highly active in my job searching and ignoring my hobbies a bit as of lately. This story isn’t one I would usually include, but it is so terrible and the girl was on the way to school, so maybe relevant. I read about all the stories about students going to school that I can and all stories involving bus drivers. There are probably 10 times the number of stories versus the ones that I write about. Anyways, this is a tragedy.

I wrote about people passing school bus red lights the other day. Here is another article on some of the consequences. I don’t know what state this is in, but I really like the fact that the registered owner of the vehicle can be charged even if they weren’t driving. That should be true in PA, as do you know how hard it is to identify the person based on a split second viewing as they drive by… I think the registered owner should have the option of turning in who was driving or take the charges on themselves.

Here is the good news that the bus driver that was pregnant went into labor while a student from her bus was hit by someone running red lights. She didn’t have the baby yet, but made it out of the hospital okay.

Lastly, there is this update on that gross guy that forced a little girl to sit on his lap. I didn’t know yesterday that this was done while the girls mother was on the bus… aaahhhh!

Here is a student that says her bus driver was acting just like her bullies. What do you think??
Surprise, this is one that I really don’t have an opinion on. It could go either way to me, maybe the driver really did, but maybe this is all retaliation for the consequences as well…nobody but those involved know. Hence, I have no opinion.

I would be up a river with this one. I don’t do that required bus search until I have all my things gathered up and am at my house parked for the day. My house is over 20 minutes from the school, so the student would easily be over an hour late to school.
I basically don’t stop from the time the bus is fully loaded, then unloaded at first school, then over unloaded at second school and then straight home. I don’t get out of my seat. I get home gather my things which primarily consist of my cell phone. I walk to the back of my bus come up front, gather Kyra and off we go.
Because this is my standard procedure and completely within the law… I don’t think these parents should even have a complaint really. It isn’t the drivers fault the kid fell asleep and he was returned to school safely which is basically her job.

Red lights on school bus need to be stopped for. It is the safety of the children you are messing with by not stopping. I know it is inconvenience to stop from going to where you are going as fast as you can, but it really is for the safety of the kids. The fines for running past school busses aren’t anything to sneeze at either, it is $1,000 fine and loss of license for 60 days here in PA.
Here are two related stories to this, one where they are doing some great work with an officer on the busses and patrol cars strategically placed to catch red light runners. This seems like a very successful approach in this town for catching these people. (PDF)
Here is the story when running the red lights goes bad. The student that was struck by the passing car and the bus driver whom was pregnant was taken to the hospital in this case. They are all lucky that all are expected to survive. The light runner in this case was a young girl as well, which is scary. (PDF)
Take my advice, stop for school bus red lights. It really doesn’t take that long to let kids off, if you follow me for my entire route. It lasts only 37 minutes with students, but the longest on one road I stay is 6 stops…which that would be like 6 minutes of you being stopped. It really isn’t that much to ask for the safety of kids.

This guy is a maniac, he only got a 5 year sentence and his name on the sex offenders list. That just isn’t right. He should have gotten 40 years and his name on that list at minimum according to me, he is 40, so that would have made him 80 when he got out. That would be much better. He assaulted multiple kids and had knowledge of drugs enough to knock them out. This is crazy….

Don’t throw crayons out the bus windows kids, how many times do I have to tell you that?? You could hit this crazy guys car and he stops when we do and he gets in the bus and threatens you with a gun all because you hit his precious car with a crayon and now there is a red line on his windshield.
Ok, in all seriousness I don’t think he would have made it onto my bus. I don’t stick around for adults, I am more in this for the kids. I would have probably been shot though.
Did you know that it is illegal for even the parents of the kids on the busses to stop foot on a school bus?? This is not a little fine either, it is a pretty hefty one and has been enforced in my district a few times when parents jumped on and grabbed their kids or things like that.
If you know who this guy is in Florida though as of right now, it isn’t to late to call it in.
