What Did the Terrible Two’s Start Today?? I missed that memo.

Today was great until about noon.  Yeah at noon…the world ended.  I think Kyra cried from that point until about 6.  She got into about everything in the house and was a constant menace.

She was on the sink in the basement, ate about 1/8th of a tube of toothpaste before I caught her. She moved the tub of kitty liter over to the sink to accomplish this mission.

She was on the counter in the kitchen in the spice cupboard.  She spilled about 1/4 of my Mrs. Dash junk stuff all over.  She was trying to clean the sink with the brush thingy that I clean it with everyday.  She moved the kitchen stools over to the counter to accomplish this mission.

She was in the dog water, which I had thought she was broken of.  She gets her butt smacked when she is in the dog water.  She has in the past emptied the whole big bowl with a teaspoon… it is really that entertaining.  You really do have to watch her when she is quiet.

She was just generally bad doing things I don’t think she ever did before…she dumped all her toys out, with straight up picking up the basket and dumping it.  She usually gets them everywhere, but a few at a time.  She never straight up dumps them out.  She also dumped all her clothes out about 5 or 6 times, so I was having her clean up those enough today.

It basically wasn’t a fun day at all.  I thought I would take some pictures of us, but I turned out just chasing her around like I imagine the mothers of those terrible two year old’s do.

I am hoping all the fuss is because she didn’t take a nap at all.  This time change has her all messed up, like it has every year of her short life so far.  I will hope for tomorrow that it turns out to be a marvelous fun day.

I might take us to the mall tomorrow.  I need some new heals as the dog ate mine.  Well, he ate the foot insert pad thingy and now they are terrible uncomfortable.  I can make Kyra sleep better too, if I do something more active to wear her out.

The good things of today though is I got some cleaning done and I got all my laundry done.  I also talked to my brother for a good hour, which it has been a very long time since I talked with him.  That was before noon…that I talked to him.  LOL…  He is going to come down just after Thanksgiving here, so that will be nice.  I love seeing Haley each time.  She is almost as cute as Kyra (on good days).

Kyra also went to bed at 6 because she had herself cried to sleep by that point.  She cried so much today, probably the most of her whole life.  I feel like a mean mom right now even though I basically did nothing but hug her and let her cry.  I have no idea what the right thing to do is when your child is going nutso.  Kids should so have manuals with them.   She will sleep now for the night now, which means an early morning for me probably.  I’ll expect it though and go to bed early.

What a day!  Good Night…

Talking is Easy!

We did virtually nothing, but yet today was very entertaining.  We did go for a walk/wagon ride of about a mile.  Kyra got a hair cut, slight.

20070928_00911a I learned that keys are used to start tricycles as well as cars.  This is actually a picture taken yesterday, so pre-hair cut.  Look at that long pretty lock.  That is one that got snipped today.  She insists on a key every time she rides her bike though, which is very cute.

20070929_01803p Rubber farm boots can be very entertaining.  These are going to be a favorite toy for quite a while.  I can tell already.  They devour her whole leg and she falls in them a lot.  That is what she likes though.  A good challenge never hurt anyone??

20070929_02404p When I asked her what she was doing in this moment, she exclaimed very distinctly “Having Fun” which is now her catch all answer.  How can you be mad with such a response??  Yes, she is spreading Lotrimin on the mirror.  I guess there is no chance of it getting athletes foot now.  Yes, she opened the drawer to climb up into this position.  She is so smart, too smart.

20070929_02804p She is a good healthy eater as well.  She is concentrating on a TV show with us eating an apple from our tree.

She has now graduated from Peek-a-Boo to “You Found Me” which is adorable.  It goes like she covers her eyes and then takes her hands away and she exclaims “You Found Me”.  There is no action nor words needed on your part.  She can do this for hours on end and be completely entertained.

She uses “Yes” and “No” each very well and correctly.  She is always asking for popsicles, so I ask her if she wants a specific color and she usually says “Blue”, but tonight she just said “No”.  It made me smile.

It seems like she has learned to speak very well almost over night.  She can’t carry on whole conversations that you understand totally yet, but she can tell you exactly what she wants when she wants it.  There is rarely a time when I don’t understand what she is talking about.  She frequently changes the way she asks for something when she knows we don’t understand which helps to make me understand the original request, she will also lead you to what she wants and point and scream still.

I don’t know when this happened, but I have totally stopped calling her stinker as well.  She is now pumpkin instead.

It was a fun day though.  I hope more days like this happen.  She is going to her dads tomorrow.  His life is getting pretty stressful now with the guy that works the same job as him having quit as of this week, so when he gets Kyra will not be as regular a schedule.  He is going to be working a whole lot until they find a new driver to work the days opposite him.  It is good for him though to make that extra money.

Anyways…that was my day.  Have a wonderful night.

Another Use For Safety Latches…

20070905_00104p  Yes, that is the safety latch on the bathroom cabinet.  It keeps Kyra safe from the cleaning supplies which are all within there.  It is the only locked anything in my house.  Well, she now uses it to get to the sink to brush her teeth.  She brushes her teeth with a few inches of toothpaste.

20070912_01212p It isn’t too bad though as she leaves everything in her path pretty much clean.  I am trying to remember to always put the toothpaste too high for her, it is a bonus being a tall girl now a days.  She hasn’t figured out that the tube in the cabinet is also toothpaste (Stan’s) and doesn’t even go for it.  She only goes for mine which I also allow her to use under supervision.  She could eat it straight out of the tube I think…blah.

Stinky Kid…

We went to Red Robin’s today because getting blood drawn took almost 2 hours, and we couldn’t make it home in time go to have the lunch I had ready for us.  Anyways…I’ll talk about this later.

We were at Red Robin.  Kyra loves saying “Hi!” to anyone in a high chair.  Yeah, if someone is in a high chair within sight of our table, she has to go say hi.  I have learned to indulge her because most parents think it is cute and she is very quick.

She usually slowly tip toes up the the baby.  She pats it on the arm and says hi.  I motion for her to come back and she runs like she is escaping from something.  This was exactly what she did today.

I picked her up though as usual and she pointed to the baby she just said hi too and said exactly “Baby (made the stinky face) Pee Pee”.   I guess this little girl was stinky. (Kyra says Pee Pee for I need to go to bathroom any bodily process.) This little one was something like a year old, so a lot younger than Kyra. Very cute!!)  It was hilarious though for Kyra to come back with this though.

She is getting so smart, when did that happen??

Bandages…

20070902_00410a 20070902_00510a When my toe was done, I went and bought enough supplies to tape my toe up for a month.  I used them for 2 days because the tape on the toe hurt more than the toe did out in the air.  When Adam left he took all the “real” band-aid’s, so when my girl wants a bandage, she really gets a bandage.

She has a real “boo boo” on her elbow, so the other day.  I taped her up for real.  That is how she has figured out these bandage things though now and insists on them.  I think every child goes through this or at least that is the rumor.  I indulge her though so far because these long bandage things are sort of fun in my half perverted mind.

Here are a couple photos of today’s pretend bandages, no child was actually hurt in the making of these photos.  LOL….

Corn…

My plans for today all went out the door at some point today.  I had it planned to go to a playgroup and about 2 hours before we left.  The lady hosting wrote and said that her child had a fever.  Well, I don’t feel like getting a fever before school even starts, so I wrote that off the schedule.

So, I cooked salmon for lunch instead of supper.

I planned on going to the pool in the afternoon.  We did this sort of, but we got to the pool and it was closed.  So, that freed up a few hours too.

20070822_01704pWe went and got corn in that time.  I had only corn for supper.  Stan had some leftover ham with his.  There is Kyra having her first bite.  She has had it a few times, so knows how it works.

20070822_01804p  Here is the one that surprises me.  She pretty much cleaned off the first one and the second one.  Yeap…I have a little eater.  She ate 2 ears.

She had an exciting day because I we didn’t get in the pool, she got a bath.  I sat on the toilet and watched her swimming in there and we did the moves like they do on Sesame Street.  I got her out and forgot to drain the water, she was all dressed and ready for whatever when she got back in the second time.  I just left her go again, so she is double clean.

The strangest thing though…I got in the shower tonight sort of late.  That way I am all clean for tomorrows trip.  Kyra doesn’t generally like showers  that well and will sit usually in the bathroom and wait for me.  Well not tonight, so she got a shower after both baths.  After we got out this time she said something that I am going to call her first sentence, but I think she has said multiple words together before, but not so clear.  She said ‘Clean Water”, of course it sounded more like “clea watra”, but I know what she means.

I am already for tomorrows trip, we are going to Sesame Place over by Philadelphia for the day.  It will be very fun to visit Elmo again, Kyra is even more into him now than when she went the first time in June, so Good Night!!

You Have to EAT it All-y-All.

That was my statement to Kyra when she wanted something else.

Do you know what she did?  She shouldn’t know this yet should she??

She picked up what she had ate 1/2 of and said “Kitty” and went running for the cat to finish for her.  So she could get her new thing to eat.  Oh my!

Spoon Nose…

20070714_00210a Ok, last post of tonight I promise. I have to go to bed anyways soon. LOL…

Here is my other pass time for today. I just loaded my pictures and it sparked the memory.

20070714_00710a I am trying to teach Kyra how to stick a spoon to her nose. A skill that is necessary for every 2 year old to know. It is another of those symbols of being a big girl. LOL…

She got it down pretty good with the plastic “baby” spoons. I couldn’t get her to understand that you only use one at a time though.

We tried with the forks and knives too. They don’t even stick to my nose, so I think she got the idea with those. We had most of the silverware that we own out trying this with them though. It was pretty fun.

I also wanted to share also that Kyra now knows “Blue”. This seems like the perfect place. She likes the blue freeze popsicles the best and will say blue blue until you give her the right one. I love it. My girl is as picky as I am. LOL…

She can count to 10 sometimes too. This is rare though…I don’t know if she knows what she is doing, but knows that 2 comes after 1.

She has so many words now they are countless. She is going to blurt out a sentence anyday now and I am going to fall off my chair when she does.

Well, anyways…that was my day and I am going to bed now sort of early. I have to take Stan to another test tomorrow, so we will be leaving early.

The Bear Issue…

20070705_00704p My daughter does some strange things sometimes.  He is very organized.  She loves it though.  Here is her play this evening by herself, me just the photographer.

She starts with the bears on the stand laying.  Side by side lined up perfectly.

20070705_00904p She then moves them to the floor, she puts the kitchen town just like if she was covering them for a nap or whatever.  She then attempts to pick them up while covered.

20070705_01104p Here she sits them on her chair, with the towel again like in a nap.  She changes her mind though.

20070705_01204p They end with the town under them sitting nicely on the chair.

20070705_01404p She later did this on the floor with them.

20070705_01804p And finally she put it on her little toy container in front of her.

She moved on to play something else here, but I am mesmerized with what is she thinking when she meticulously places them like this with such care, from place to place.

Do your two year olds do this??
