Let’s look at these pictures….

As I type this, Snowy is dying in my kitchen.  I have been crying and crying.  I did everything I can possibly do though.  He won’t eat.  He is on a pillow case with another pillowcase covering him with a folded pillow case under his head.  He will be gone when I finish typing this more than likely.  (Ahhh, more tears….)

Here are pictures though.  When I went out this evening, the twins were playing and jumping and running and kicking there feet up in the sun through the window.  The girl is the front baby in both these pictures and the only goat in the solo baby shot.  She is the new sweet heart in the barn.  LOL..

They really look different than the pictures I took of them still wet from birth don’t they?  They are so adorable right now.  They have probably tripled there birth weight already.  I took a picture with Misty in it, but it got cut. The light was hitting her weird as she is in the shadow.  I have to try again more pictures tomorrow.

Oh, and on the names.  Everyone of the neighbor kids seemed to like the name “Caramel” that was suggested in my comments, so that is what the name is for this little girl.  The little boy twin is named “Bullet” and “White Bullet” if you want to be specific.

Ok, so (Asheley’s last triplet) Finley is doing great as well.  He just inhaled another bottle at 9:30 here, so he is good til morning.  He is sleeping well and looks like he is starting to gain weight from the replacer.  He is still no where near as healthy as these twins, but I am very confident he is going to make it.  Now, I just have to find him a good home because if I am going to raise a hand fed billy goat, he had best be used for a stud by someone somewhere out there.  So, I am now not only feeding this young billy, but I will also be hunting him down a permanent position or at least a position to keep for awhile.  So off, I go to every great goat from that I know of. He has some pretty good genetics behind him even though the misfortune of his situation.  His father was a registered Boer goat and his mother a pure bred Nubian, so he is a good perfect mix of milk and meat producing goats.

This last picture is meant to show Adam’s beard.  He wanted me to take pictures of it because he is going to shave it off again.  His facial hair grows funny on his face, but every year when it is cold outside for a week or so he gets this urge to not shave, so I don’t fight it.  I know it is short lived and it is cool.  LOL…

It seems like I spend and equal part of my day in the house and an equal part in the barn here lately.  It is really great weather wise and all that snow we had is melting leaving huge mounds of mud where I park my bus, but I don’t even have to prestart it as it is so warm.  I am feeling spring in the air and I am ready.  Even though, I did like this last snow storm too.

Well, I am going to attempt to sleep.  I probably won’t though, so I will be working on BTI more than likely writing more cheesy lines.  Oh, that is really fun sometimes. If you buy from Amazon, you should go over there and hit a link for me.  The money produced goes almost directly into my retirement account, you all want me to retire with a nice amount of change don’t you??  LOL…. Don’t buy anything you wouldn’t normally buy though.  I not asking for that, but if you are going to buy from Amazon anyways, why not.

See ya…

It was death…

I saw death yesterday.  It isn’t pretty.  Asheley died in the night, probably pretty close to this morning. She was still semi-moveable at 6 because her babies were jumping on her trying to wake her.

We wrapped her in a sheet and got her out of the barn now.  I haven’t figured out what to do from here now though with her.  I have never had an adult goat die on me.  I don’t really want to dig a whole this big out there…

Anyways, she is gone.  It takes 5 days to slowly bleed to death when you rupture your uterus, now you know.  I am sort of relieved that she isn’t suffering anymore.

Snowy still isn’t eating hardly at all.  I got 1/2 a bottle down him so far today.

Finley has eaten 3 bottles.

Just sad…

Sad Day…

Today was sort of a sad day for me. Asheley is still alive, but I don’t think she will be in morning. We gave her the medicines though. I feel like I am watching a slow painful death occur in front of my eyes and there is nothing I can do about it. Hopefully it is a slow painful recovery though, who knows…not much hope right now though according to me though. She isn’t even chewing her cud now. I don’t think she has eaten or drank anything through the entire course of the day.

The boys Snowy and Finley are still going. I am having a really hard time getting Snowy to eat still, so don’t know if I am meeting his food needs. I am going out every 3 hours now though, so hopefully he will just eat like mad one of these times. Finley on the other hand is going to town…he is sucking on this bottle like you wouldn’t believe. The full bottle is gone in seconds with Finley at the reins. LOL… I am hoping that Snowy will take the idea from watching Finley, but who knows.

This is such a sad thing for me to have to nurse these babies while they watch there mama possible die. It just truly breaks my heart.

I will take some new pictures of Misty and the thriving twins tomorrow. You will notice so much growth in them. They look fantastic and Misty is doing about as great of a job as can be done. I am so glad for this as it keeps me going. I can hold the cutest healthiest little girl goat after I get done attempting to feed these boys who are so hard to feed.

Well, that is my barn update. There is some happiness with these twins, but mostly sadness right now when I walk the trail to the barn. Things will improve though, these animals are joyous for the most part. Bye..

Vet visited Asheley…

Asheley might still make it everyone do some hoping with me.  It is undecided right now.  She has a tear in her uterus though, so these are her last babies for forever.  She will never have a girl ever. That is only part of the bad news.

If the tear is real bad, the vet couldn’t tell. The cervix was shut.  If it is large though, chances are she won’t make it through the week.  There is nothing you can do for this tear.  If it is small there is some organ that kicks in to repair it, but large ones don’t repair and she will basically bleed internally til she dies.  The vet gave her some medicine to help clean her out and will hopefully help with repairing the tear.  We also got some antibiotics, so she doesn’t get an infection as she gets better….again hoping she gets better.

Her milk isn’t coming in like it should because of stress, so I went and bought some milk replacer and am now the fill-in-mother of Finley and Snowy.  Finley has learned to nurse while Asheley is laying down, so is doing much better than Snowy. Snowy is loosing weight, but we are on it.  He ate a lot of replacer tonight, so he will be fine.  If Asheley does die, Snowy will have a bit of a heads up from learning about the bottle today instead of later.

The vet also gave me some medicine for the babies too.  Finley has slight case of the runs, so we got some stuff for those.  They should be taken care of now.

There is the sad news more.

Edited…

Just a couple days after I said I don’t edit my posts. I really edited that one. It was Sonic that got died last night and not Finley. So, I did edit it. That is just to big an error to go unedited. I also changed Wander’s comment to say “Sonic”..I know she would have put the correct name had I…duh.

The kids came home from school and were like “Where is Sonic?”, so I guess I killed off the wrong baby name.

Sonic died..

So, I start with the bad news and give it it’s own post without photos.  During the night, I think Asheley stepped on Sonic.  He didn’t make it he was dead this morning when we went out.

Also in bad news, something is going wrong with Asheley.  She is just generally weak.  She hasn’t recovered from the birth and is still bleeding some.  She was this way yesterday too, but I just sort of wrote it off as a rough labor.  Today though I got the goat expert from down the road to come visit her and he thinks something tore on the inside during the labor, so now the vet is on his way here.

Snowy and Finley are still alive and doing.  They could be better though.  Asheley hasn’t let them nurse the way she should, so they are very much weaker than the twins of Misty.

Well, that is the bad news….I will now make a good news post.
